In this article we'll take a look at how to polish your store, starting with your products. You will learn how to add products to your store and make them as attractive as possible to your site visitors.
How to add products to your store?
If you are already comfortable with adding products, skip to the next section. But if you want a booster shot and find some new advice, then read on.
The process of adding products to your store is different for each platform.
Shopify Vs. Ecwid Vs. Storenvy
These platforms have a mockup generator that pushes new products right to your store. This means that instead of adding new products to your store and then syncing them with Printful manually, you can log into your Printful account and create products that are automatically added to your store.
This is how it works:
- Go to “Store” in your dashboard and click on “add”. You will see a new window appear that looks like this:
- Click on the product you want to add and choose the specific model.
Note: Not all of our products are available through the launch builder yet. To add these products, see the instructions for other platforms below.
- Download your print file and select your variants (colors, sizes). You can also adjust the size of your design. When you are happy with how it looks, click “Proceed to Pricing.”.
- On the “Pricing” or Pricing page, choose the file format you want to upload for your product image (JPG or PNG), determine your selling price and profits, then edit your product name and description ( we will come back to this later).
Once you are satisfied, post the product in your store!
All other platforms
You will need to add the products to your store first and then sync them with Printful. It's a little different for each platform, but here are the general steps:
- Connect your store to Printful if you haven't already.
- Add a product through your store's platform.
- On Printful, go to Stores -> Sync. If you don't see any products on this page, click “Refresh”.
- Click on the “Edit” button. This is where you will select the product and download the print file and mockup for each variant (size, color).
- Since syncing products with many variations can take a long time, you may choose to sync as orders arrive. So when an order arrives for a product that is not yet synced, it stays on hold until you sync it.

How to create great product photos
It's not enough to display your products and stop there - you have to sell them to your customers. Your customers cannot see your products in person, so it is your job to show them attractive photos and product descriptions.
Our mockup generator is a useful tool not only to help us better understand how your product looks, but also to show your customers what your product looks like. It even comes with additional features to help you add your products. However, you have to go beyond a basic photo.
Good product photos are essential. Airbnb has started offering professional photos of their hosts' homes. The results? Homes with high-quality photos generate twice as many bookings and earn an average of $ 1,025 per month. Part of this is of course the added security, knowing that an Airbnb photographer has verified the location. But photography is one of them.
The same goes for the products you sell on the Internet.
So here are some basics of product photography.
- Use lifestyle or staged product photos in everyday life:this applies to clothing. It's good to show simple, blank photos of your clothes, but try to include a few that show real people wearing your products. It gives a better idea of the product and creates a visual of what your customers expect to see for themselves.
Give your customers more styling tips for your product and create a look that they'll want to emulate.
- Use a simple background:You want your product to be the center of attention for your site visitor, not everything that is happening around it. We recommend a white background, especially if you want to take product photos yourself. It's simple and secure, and with the right lighting, camera settings, and good image processing, it's relatively easy to make it look professional.
That doesn't mean you can't have other types of backgrounds. Sometimes, a staged background allows you to highlight your product. And that creates an idealized image for your client; they can see themselves in the photo and imagine themselves using the product. This is one of the product shots for a set of clay bowls at CB2 with a beautifully staged table.
- Zoom in:do you want to draw attention to a particular detail? Add a zoomed photo of the product. This gives your customers a better idea of how your product will look and presents intricate details of your product not otherwise visible.

How to write attractive product descriptions
The purpose of descriptions is to present your products in the best light and give your customers a clear overview of what they are seeing in order to persuade them to hit the "buy" button.
Product descriptions are also important in creating the voice and tone of your brand. How do you want to communicate with your customers? Are you funny and playful, or rather serious and to the point? From product pages to emails to the look of your site, set the tone for your brand's personality.
It will take a little time, practice, and testing to write great product descriptions, but here are some tips to get you started.
- Be specific:add a size guide with measurements to help customers choose the size they want to purchase. What kind of fabric is it made of? If you are selling a poster, what type of paper is it? You want to include practical details to help your customers learn more about what they want to buy.
- Be creative:Even if you must include informative details about your products, try to make the product description as interesting to the reader as possible. Avoid generic words and be creative. Instead of clearly writing that your product is “high quality,” describe why. The fact that it is of high quality is implied.
- Keep your customers in mind:who are you writing for and what kind of language should you use? Always remember the customer experience - put yourself in their shoes and figure out what you need to tell them to get them to buy your products.
- Tell your story:do you have a story behind your product? Share it in the description. It adds more personality and a human element to your store. It sells clothes with the design of a traditional Latvian headdress and the product description describes its history.
- Use keywords:this will help people find you on search engines. What keywords would they most likely use to find your products? For example, a search for "sublimation pineapple print short sleeve t-shirt for men" might not be a popular search term. “Pineapple print shirt” might be more likely.
